Elias Solomon Hitson has arrived

Elias Solomon Hitson has arrived.
I'll try to give the birth story in a short version.
I went into labor on March 8th in the
evening. We labored for a good while that night and then went to the hospital at 4am on March 9th, a Monday morning. When I arrived at the hospital I was still 4 cm dialted...I had been 4 cm dialted for 2 weeks. The midwife on call sent me home to labor there so that we didn't just sit at the hospital forever.
I was able to get some sleep during the day on Monday and I had a dr appt at 2:15 on Monday. When I was getting out of the car for the doctor appt my water broke...it broke enough for the midwife at the appt to suggest that we come to the hospital that night at 8pm so that she can break my water for delivery. I had to have delivered Elias within 24 hours of my water breaking.
I couldn't make it to 8pm on Monday so we headed for the hospital at 6:30pm. My water was broken at 7:30pm and I was in active labor. I labored for a good while with the help of John and our great friend, Lauren (a midwife student).
I got an epidural at 10:30ish... I believe and was able to sleep for 3 hours...I woke up with chills and come to find out I had a temperature of 102. This was not good.
I was checked after I got the epidural and I was still at 7cm. The midwife there mentioned that the fever was not a good thing and that we either needed to start pitosin to help progress labor...but Elias heart rate was already really high and mine was around 145 ( this is like running a marathon)
So...long story longer... we opted for an emergency C section and they began prepping me for the surgery. This was all very scary... I could see the worry in Johns eyes...but the peace of Christ was all over me...I kept telling John, "I'm going to be ok, Don't worry!" He was great. He began to pray over me and Elias. At this point Elias' heart rate was about 220.... this is too high.
They began the c section at 3:00 am and Elias as born at 4:05am on March 10th.
God knows the plans he has for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us. I had an infection of the uterus and placenta...we're not sure what the infection was, but they call this type of infection Chorioaminotitus. I had to be put on antibiotics for 2 days and Elias had a fever when he was born so he had to have antibiotics as well. He ended up having high levels of C reactive protein in his body (which means there is some type of infection in his little body). He had to have a full 7 days of antibiotics by IV. I was released on Friday and Elias had to stay until the following Wednesday.
By far this was one of the most challenging experiences of my life... Our Father knows the plans and sometimes they are not what we have planned. I'm thankful for this experience and I know that this birth story was the one God had for John and I and sweet baby Elias. We learned and are still learning how to trust in his ultimate plan for our family. John and I's relationship is so much more stronger for all the things we experienced together.
Praise Him for all His Goodness and how he teaches through changing plans.
